Save the galaxy’s ice cream supplies from evil enemy robots in Robots Love Ice Cream!
Robots Love Ice Cream is an arcade-style game featuring classic gameplay with a whole new theme. A mad scientist has installed Sprinkletonium into evil robots giving them a love for ice cream. They are threatening the universe’s ice cream supply by descending on planets and stealing all available ice cream.
As you circle the planet in your ice cream truck equipped with weaponized ice cream, it’s up to you to put a stop to the evil invaders and save ice cream for all of humanity.
Robots Love Ice Cream is a well-made game that made me miss old school shooting games like Duck Hunt. While the visuals are stunning, they are definitely an homage to arcade-style games and retro graphics.
Similarly, the whimsical sounds take you right back to the quarter-loving machines in your favorite pizza joint. I really enjoyed the developers take on the arcade style and thought they pulled it off well while letting modern elements shine through.
Robots Love Ice Cream contains a galaxy of planets each with different objectives to accomplish while saving ice cream. You’re given time goals, limited shots fired, use of combos or different maneuvers necessary to earn maximum points.
While I may love these old style shooting games, my relative lack of hand-eye coordination means they are certainly not my strong suit. Pair that with using both hands (one to drive and one to shoot) and I’m not likely to earn three stars on any level! Nevertheless, I had a great time defeating Spinston and his menacing robot friends. It’s kind of fun to blow things up!
Each time you defeat a robot, you can collect their Sprinkletonium, which can be used to upgrade your weapons. There are, of course, in-app purchases available to further boost your Sprinkletonium supply, such as being able to permanently double your supply.
As I’ve mentioned before, I’m cheap and prefer to stick to what I can earn through gameplay but many of the IAP run $2-3 so they won’t break the bank.
One of my favorite features of Robots Love Ice Cream is the remarkable theming incorporated into every aspect. When Spinston descends upon an ice cream shop and uses his tractor beam to capture all of the ice cream supply, you can observe the ice cream man holding onto the crate of ice cream as it’s beamed up.
Of course, the objective is to blow up the robot before he gets that far, but I had fun watching! In addition, the developers clearly had fun deciding on names for all of the weapons – Single Scoop, Hot Fudge Funday, Rapid Pop, and Boomsicle have various unique features to help destroy the robots. My only question – does it seem a little counterproductive to attack ice cream loving robots with ice cream weapons in order to save ice cream?
