Well, when it rains it pours --- resource management games! I think it was just 2 days ago that I told you about the third version of Roads of Rome being released and out from left field My Kingdom for the Princess 3 was released. The original My Kingdom for the Princess was my first real entry into this genre of game and quite frankly has become the standard from which I measure all other resource management games. So you can imagine that I'm beyond excited right now; my head is actually spinning because I can't decide which one to play first. Well, actually I guess I can decide because I can get My Kingdom for the Princess 3 right now for a reasonable price! You think that Morgan and Jasper and their friends are pinching their pennies? They haven't seen anything yet until they have the giant hole in the pocket but wonderfully full hole in the heart that a kid causes and then fills!
So what can I say about this game beyond I love it, you'll love it, go buy it right now! I played the first section of 10 levels and there are no major changes in the game that I can see. So far I haven't run into any new buildings, characters, or mini-games as compared to the second game. In some sense, that familiarity is comforting because I could just jump in using my tried and true methods to beat the levels. One thing that was a little confusing for me was that the bars that show the tasks, resources on hand, and timers have been moved from the top of the screen to the sides. Honestly I couldn't even find the timer bar for several levels and I had to look rather hard to find it; so that took a bit of time to get used to but change is good (I thinkā¦)
I think of all three My Kingdom for the Princess games, this one has the best storyline so far. We return to the same royal family 25 years later. Our characters, Arthur and Helen, from the prior games have had three sons and they are vying for the hand of the lovely Princess Elizabeth. The prince who brings the most prosperity to their lands will win her hand. Now of course we are playing as Andrew, the younger, handsomer, kinder (every kind of good 'er you can think of) brother. The older two brothers are all things bad and attempt to sabotage poor sweet Andrew, and that's where I had to stop!
I promise with my hand over my heart (or should that be my mouse over my heart?) to get a complete My Kingdom for the Princess 3 walkthrough out to you as soon as I can. I've got plans with my family over the weekend so I can't get started on it right away, but it will happen and I will post here when it is finished. In the meantime, buy the game and start playing for me, okay?
